Icelandic Rams - 2022 Sires

Vafi is a black gray ram that we purchased for new genetics this year. He has a phenomenal meat conformation.  His horn conformation is acceptable. He prefers to keep his distance from people, but he can be worked with.  He has a lovely fleece. 

Vafi is a F2 Gramann descendant.

Pete is our homegrown Dante replacement. His sire is Dante and his dam is Sundee. He carries black, morrit, solid, and spotting. He is a twin and comes from milky, maternal lines.  He has good body conformation, decent horn conformation, and a personality that's easy to work with. He is both friendly and respectful.

Pete carries Dante's Artificial Insemination (AI) lines, which include Dropi, Flekkur, Broddi, Halsa, Biskup (leadersheep), Bassi, Nokkvi, and Horvi.

Thomas is a black badgerface ram out of Lola by Graylord. We decided to give Graylord the year off and add some more badgerface pattern to the flock. Thomas carries solid, morrit, and spotting. A twin, he has a fabulous fleece, good horn conformation, good meat/body conformation, and comes from milky lines. His personality is sweet and mellow.

He carries Graylord's AI lines, including Grimur, Horvi, Blettur, Eldar, Laekur, Hunn, Moli, Flekkur and Heli. 

Helgi is the other ram we purchased for new genetics this year.  He is a white ram who carries solid, morrit, and spotting. He has a good personality, phenomenal horn conformation, and good body conformation.

Dante is a solid spotted morrit, and also our head ram.  He has many of the traits, both in body style and personality, that are usually found in leadersheep. He has a fabulous personality, a wonderful fleece, and comes from milky lines. His dam was grand champion against breed standard in 2006, and his sire won an award for his fleece. We are excited to have him as part of our flock.

His daughters are milky, and his progeny carry quality fleece, good horn and meat/body conformation, and have good temperaments.

Dante carries several Artificial Insemination (AI) lines in his background, including Dropi, Flekkur, Broddi, Halsa, Biskup (leadersheep), Bassi, Nokkvi, and Horvi.

Rex is our Morrit Single Gene Gray Mouflon (SGGM) ram. He is a triplet out of Sundee by Bojangles.  He has an amazing fleece, fabulous horn conformation, good meat/body conformation, and comes from milky lines. 

His offspring have decent attitudes, lovely fleeces, and good horn and body conformation.

He carries a number of AI lines, including Grimur, Horvi, Blettur, Eldar, Laekur, Hunn, and Moli.

Bojangles is our Single Gene Gray Mouflon (SGGM) ram and has a gorgeous gray fleece that has a very soft feel. His fleece is only surpassed in softness by his daughter, Vivian. He has an amazing fleece, fabulous horn conformation, good meat/body conformation, and comes from milky lines. 

His offspring have decent attitudes, lovely fleeces, and good horn and body conformation.

He carries a number of AI lines, including Biskup (leadersheep), Grimur, Horvi, Blettur, Eldar, Laekur, Hunn, and Moli.

Barney was the first ram we welcomed to the Homestead. The son of a polled black mouflon ewe and a horned spotted morrit ram from polled lines, Barney is a fabulous solid morrit who carries spotting. He is an eager breeder and throws quality lambs. He has a very sweet temperament and good horn and body conformation. He also has an exceptional fleece and comes from milky lines.

Barney's progeny have good attitudes, good horn and body conformation, and quality fleece. We expect to see similar attributes in his future offspring. With all of the polled sheep in Barney's background, it is possible that he may give us polled lambs at some point.

Barney has a good meat conformation and carries AI lines from Flekkur and Heli.
